Having a few rituals in my day is becoming increasingly essential. The structure it brings helps me do more & enjoy myself more too. Knowing that I have some kind of schedule, or unwavering priorities, keeps me focused + productive. And when I'm done, I feel guilt-free as I know that I was efficient & that I'll show up again tomorrow (or whenever I've planned doing it again).
As an entrepreneur, I decide every single detail of my day. I am accountable to my immediate family for house-related tasks – but other than that, no one is looking over my shoulder. I love this freedom! And to feel completely at ease in this environment, I really do need to make a few activities sacred & non-negotiable. I do them, cherish them, and then I move on. I don't plan my whole day, just those things that play such an important part in my happiness + success. The rest of the day is up for improvisation, spontaneity & spur of the moment inspirations!
It's a practice in itself to remember what's most important. The key is to only choose a few, otherwise the elements loose their privilege. Sometimes I re-evaluate my decisions, often to confirm how these choices were right & natural.
If you haven't already, take the time to reflect on your values. You will find that this brings a grounding & a peace of mind that will heighten your enjoyment of life.
