Many of us practice yoga. It's a learning process, a spiritual path. But here's my question: do you surrender to joy & bliss in your asana? Are you in a state of union when you're holding Warrior II?
From my experience, here are my 3 tips for cultivating samadhi equally during a sweaty vinyasa or a deep restorative practice:
- Be calm - deepen your breath, soften your gaze. Notice your edge: are you playing it in a mindful + exciting way, or are you being reckless in your attitude?
- Be joyful - just like a morning's first stretch, a yoga pose can be deeply releasing & pleasurable. How can you infuse an energy of joy + fun in your pose?
- Observe - savor the moment, notice how you are feeling in your body while doing the pose, be contented of staying for the lesson. You will be guided intuitively to the next variation if you listen within first. This will be a very physical longing for a deeper stretch, an easier alignment, a release that strengthens + energizes you. Your physical body is learning & so are your emotional, mental + spiritual ones too. Give them time to integrate the pose.
I hope to have inspired you to be in yoga more often in your practice.
