Book Review: In the Company of Women
I love reading + learning. I especially enjoy inspirational business books because the shared experience teach me a lot & spur me forward.
The 100+ makers, artists & entrepreneurs interviewed in the book In the Company of Women, by Grace Bonney, answer a set of questions & welcome us into their space. Quotes highlight some of their most powerful nuggets of wisdom. Photographs of each woman + some of their work illustrate the book beautifully.
The wide range of backgrounds & lifestyles shook off some of my limiting beliefs as to what I can achieve. Some of them grew up in a family of artists, while others defied family traditions + values to honor their artistic calling. Some make a great living from their creative business while others pay the bills with several revenue streams — but it doesn't matter. What matters is that while the flame is burning, they are doing what they love.
This book is always near me in my office. Reading it is like meeting with a tribe of mentors, trail-blazers & astonishingly real women, making their mark on the world.
